My manager literally told me I should shit my pants rather than clock in at 9:06, when my call time was 9 and there's a grace period for 5 minutes, so clocking in at 9:05 is no problem.
I had already warned them that I was having a medical procedure done that was going to cause me to have a lot of stomach problems for a couple of weeks, and they said they totally understood.
I had to make the decision one morning right after the medical procedure to either shit my pants, or arrive a minute after the acceptable clock in time. I communicated immediately to them that that was what was happening, before I was late, which is horrifically embarrassing to have to do. I was then pulled in to the office at the end of my shift that day and told that it my final warning, specifically because of that.
I was absolutely flabbergasted. I said to them “This isn't a time management problem or me just being irresponsible or lazy, this is something that was not within my control. I genuinely do not understand how you can punish me for this.”
He simply repeated that it cannot happen again and that I would have no more warnings.
There was a long silence, because I was looking at all 3 managers in the room (2 of them seemed to be looking on in horror at what the other one was saying and doing). Then I asked,
“Would you *really* prefer that I shit my pants on the way to work, have to spend an hour trying to clean myself up in the bathroom, and then you'd have to send me home anyways? You *truly* would prefer that I shit myself?”
My manager said “If it comes to that, then yeah.”
I felt an intense heat in my face, because hearing that made me absolutely furious. I then just said,
“I will not be signing anything. I don't agree with any of this. This is dehumanizing. This is wrong.”
Stood up, said “Is there anything else you need before I go?” No response, I said “Good.” Then left.
