Forced to work after a miscarriage

My fiancée (F23) works as an Assistant Manager at a retail mall store in Ontario, Canada. My fiancée had a miscarriage a little bit over a month ago and was forced to continue working even though she had a doctors note that said she had to go on a leave of absence… since then her mental health has continued to decrease. There are many factors but the strongest factor has been the stress of her job and how her manager has been treating her. We have proof of her manager telling her to come in, even when the doctors note was sent, do you think she has any grounds to stand on for starting a legal case against them?
