I don’t know if this is the right sub for this but I just wanted to see if anyone knew anything about this. I work as a mechanic for county transportation system and I was asked to pick up a syringe that was found on a train. What I’m wondering is if there is any specific training required to handle biohazards and sharp materials.
We routinely get called out to clean up spills but syringes are a hazard I’d rather not expose myself or my coworkers to. I know that we use a contractor to decontaminate the vehicles if we find bedbugs or blood, so I don’t see why this would be any different. To make matters worse we don’t even have a sharps container or the right sized gloves.
