So, I've posted about the ABA I worked at before. Well, let's just say shit got worse.
My supervisor thought she was above company policy and berated me for taking covered time off due to illness (let's add that I worked in a childcare setting and have a compromised immune system that was definitely exacerbated by little kids). And said we were only allowed 1 sick day a month (not at all what company policy says). I was honestly planning my leave then. But I wanted to talk to my partner first, since it does affect him.
Then, yesterday, I go in and start my session with my patient. I'm halfway through my session when my supervisor comes up and demands I come to her office. I comply, but I already had a bad feeling.
And then she started on the accusations.
1) calling my 2yo patient names/speaking rudely to him.
2) complaining about his mom (which I do, but don't send your kid to me on a daily basis without the supplies he needs! He spends 8 hrs a day with us and his parents always forget something he needs. Be it diapers, his cup, his chewy, or proper/enough food. And they send him in sick.)
3) Abuse-throwing him too hard onto the crash pad and keeping it up when he was crying. I didn't, I would stop immediately if he randomly started crying because I would assume he hurt himself. And we didn't do it a lot, because hoisting a kid up and swinging them down fast enough for it to be exciting for them but slow and low enough so they can't get hurt is exhausting. They didn't care about the throwing part, they cared because someone said it was aggressive.
4) complaining about my job/supervisor. I had already reported to the center supervisor how uncomfortable my direct supervisor made me, but I was told to “schedule an appointment with her and I'll be there to support you.” And was told since I had dragged my feet about it, I must have not felt too serious about it-while she completely ignored the point I had made that I was working 2 jobs and I really feel uncomfortable with doing a meeting like this.
I wasn't given a chance to defend myself with my direct supervisor. And when I was with the center supervisor, and she mentioned the claim of abuse happening on a day I wasn't in, because my patient was out super sick, and I pointed that out, she completely brushed it aside. She never let me see the dates of the the incident reports, which makes me think she knows they are bs, since all of these have to have a report filed with the date of the occurrence.
And when I pointed out that a lot of people complained about their patients/parents a lot more loudly then I did, and with a lot ruder terms, she said that I should be reporting them, despite me pointing out that these are senior and Lead RBTs, and I have no interest in playing that game, as a newcomer that had been lied to enough to realize she was definitely in a clique type of environment. And center supervisor had the nerve to say “this isn't a high school environment, we don't play games like this.” Bullshit. Everyone who knows Healthcare, knows how clique the environment is.
So I turned in my 2 week notice. And was sent a message today that said “due to recent events, you cannot finish your sessions with patient, but we can have you cover with other patients.” Like, make it make sense. That message proves that you know the allegations are fake, because if you actually thought I was abusive, you wouldn't actually have me taking care of other kids.
Oh, and the information I got today from a friend that works there tells me that their suspicions are right, this has been in the works for a bit. They immediately had a permanent coverage for patient, when it took them 2-4 weeks to get long term coverage for other patients who had their RBTs leave.
