Can someone help me understand how being fired, even though it’s more beneficial short-term due to unemployment benefits, doesn’t royally f*ck you over when looking for a new job..? Or not giving a two weeks notice? Doesn’t that just make things worse for you?!

This is a completely genuine question so please don’t think I’m trying to argue/troll! Americans are royally fucked over by their employers far too frequently, so I 100% understand the desire behind just slacking off until you’re fired so that you get the benefits that come with it or quitting on the spot if you find a new job… BUT doesn’t that make it harder for someone already disadvantaged to get themselves into a good position? You won’t get a reference and I know I personally would be afraid to put a job on my CV that ended on bad terms or that I was fired from, so I’m trying to understand how people go about this when they’re advised to slack off to be fired or quit sans notice. Do you not put the job on your resume? Do you put it on anyways? A lot of industries surely…

A lot of industries surely don’t care to check references, but a whole lot do and I’m confused about how ending on bad terms won’t dig you into a deeper hole..?

Are the people recommending this just too privileged to see the negative impacts?

Again, I swear this is a genuine question! I’m eager to hear your responses so I can better understand this (:
