Growing up it was always my understanding that blue collar/office work hours were mostly 9-5 Monday to Friday, but looking through postings on Linkedin, most jobs that list their hours are usually 8-5 or 8:30-5:30. Was the 9-5 always just an ideal or at a certain point did managers start adding an extra hour of work just to “enhance productivity” or some other god forsaken reason?
