So I had my 6 month review at a job recently and felt it worth sharing as it has angered me no end.
For context, it is a minimum wage admin job alongside one other person of the same grade/role.
In this review they:
- Blamed me for a system issue, because they had asked the other admin who had denied involvement, so, rather than ask me, they just assumed I was to blame. I asked them to evidence and show proof it was my wrongdoing and it turned out it was a glitch with their OneDrive rather than something anyone had done intentionally, after defending myself they did not apologise, merely shrugged it off and said “well you have to sort it anyway”.
- Accused me of multiple mistakes but were unable to present evidence when asked.
- Claimed that me doing the overtime they had explicitly asked me to do to help prepare for an audit, was in fact me “happily taking money from them for work that wouldn't have been necessary had the job been done properly originally”
- Implied (but said they could not discuss) that the previous employees in our roles had been sacked due to struggling to keep in line with the deadlines. Which was brought up when I mentioned that the other admin and I felt the deadlines were unrealistic.
ā
So as a result they have extended our review periods further and therefore cancelled all of our planned leave as well (as you're not allowed leave until after you pass your 6 month review)

I honestly feel that I am not paid enough for the level of work and pressure that is being asked of me, and I am not paid enough to tolerate this level of BS from an employer.
And before you even say about submitting a complaint, it's a family-run business and the only person above this person in the hierarch, is their spouse.
