My employer this year implemented a new requirement for insurance which requires you to call a “concierge” to make any appointments. Now instead of taking 5 minutes to call a provider and make an appointment it takes 30 minutes. But the best part is that if I don't do it they will charge me $300 for failing to comply!!! This is something my employer is requiring, not the insurance company. They are trying to sell it as something to support me a “concierge” service. It's all to help the company though.
This is on top of the thousand plus paid for premiums each month and the $10k in deductibles/copays for my out of network costs I had to pay this year since the provider I needed to use was “out of network”. This is with “good” insurance and I'm still paying for other care for my family that is not even in out of network coverage, it's out of out of network.
Then if I get laid off I'll not have insurance. The US healthcare system is so fucked.
