So I work as a software developer of industrial systems. I drew the short straw this go around and have to work the 3pm to 1am shift for a deployment. I am out of town for a couple of weeks every deployment. Other teams are out there for a month.
I am getting rather concerned with me and some of my coworkers. They're putting us in a high stress/low sleep situation where one wrong move would easily put you in a casket.
The harp about safety but yet deprive us of the one thing that keeps us the safest, sleep.
It might be worth the risk if we were paid Silicon Valley wages, but we're not.
