Last Saturday at 11pm I was walking in my living room when my foot smacked the bottom of my chair and I fractured one of my toes and dislocated it. I got to the er and was out by 2:30am on Sunday. I went to work Monday morning and did my usual normal routine between from 8 till 9 am. By then, my supervisor saw me limping and told me that I can go home. I didn't say anything as I was afraid of losing my job. This was the second week of my new job and I didn't want to take the chance of getting fired. I was relieved when she said that I can go home. She told me that they are going to need me on Tuesday so to come in the next day. I said ok and came in this morning.
Well I've been walking around all day, and now my foot is screaming at me. Do I have any rights, as in not working until my foot is healed or can I get fired? I'm so scared that I will loose my job I tell them I need to stay of it for a couple days. My boss keeps walking around saying, ” I've broken my toes so many times. I don't understand why you need time off. Just tape em up and cut off the top of your shoe. You'll be fine.” I don't bother talking back. I'm head of maintenance for an apartment complex. I'm consistently on ladders and last week I picked up pieces to a syringe. So cutting up my boots isn't on the top of my to do list. I feel like I'm being mis-used. I don't mind being used, just don't mis-use me. Any suggestions? Thanks friends.
