I left my last “job” last summer after dealing with intense bullying and harassment from a small business owner/operator. Racism, sexism, homophobia… screaming at employees at the top of their lungs racist slurs, constantly threatening termination. Last straw was a nick name i was given that I'm not going to repeat -paranoia- that was disgusting.
Okay, get another job… beautiful office building, looks too good for me (i have no degree, it's a major complex i have and i live in a competitive state). They hire me the day after the interview.
Training was great, I picked up on everything quickly and was on my own doing well and making no errors. That is, until the system switchover that changed EVERYTHING.
Initially i was told my job was going to be made so easy that i was worried i'd be let go… turns out my job and all aspects of my job were the most affected. Issue after issue, getting constant blame for a screwed up shitty program that i have no control over.
One person in the office is crass, loud, and a “self-proclaimed bully.” They told me this, i laughed thinking they were kidding. They said, no really i'm a bully and i'm proud. Not only did i just leave a job due to abuse i was bullied as a child as well. The bullying just goes right into adulthood. Bullying kills. They way this person talks to me makes me want to.. leave everything.
I can't stay at this job, I was wondering if anyone had any experience/advice on how to deal with this. i want to quit but i need unemployment, will a hostile work environment allow me to collect? I'm hoping they just fire me because i keep leaving early due to panic attacks, I think i could still collect if that was the reason.. just feeling lost and helpless. Oh and they never had a meeting with me about health insurance (i was told there would be one) so i missed the deadline, had to go off my meds and have been so depressed i don't even care about health insurance anymore.
tl;dr – left a job due to bullying for another job where i'm being bullied. looking for advice or shared experiences. thank you if anyone read my ramblings, i am sad lol.
