Just like a ton of others struggling I am no different. But right now, I make 14 an hour my rent is 1200 a month. I do work from home currently, but it seems like my job is currently downgrading a ton and I am not sure for how long I will have this job. I can't afford dental or health insurance or life insurance. Like I said struggling.
Recently my current job lined up for me an interview with one of our clients that I am really good at handling and have been doing so for about 18 months now. During the interview they asked me my salary requirements. I told them 40k a year since this job is salary and not hourly like my current job.
A couple of days later I got a job offer. They offered me 30k a year. I checked to make sure it wasn't a clerical error or something first and it wasn't. Then I figured out what was happening. My current job (someone with access to my info) told them what I make here. It was exactly 6 percent more than what I make. But what they failed to realize is that with overtime I end up a couple hundred over 30k a year.
This made me angry and for the first time in my life I rejected the offer. I decided I would rather be homeless than work for people like this. (Though I currently still work for the 14 an hour job as of writing this.) At least if I get laid off, I can qualify for healthcare, dental, and food stamps. Also I would get 240 a week in unemployment. I might be living in a tent but at least I can get my teeth fixed and get back on my thyroid medication.
This might be the wrong place to put this since this is more of a rant. Maybe off my chest subreddit or something. But I am just so sick of rich assholes taking advantage of me and everyone else just trying to survive life. And have a halfway decent life.
