I'm 20, turning 21 in a few months. I've been working since 15 and I've never had an issue getting jobs. I stay for 6+ months and jumped around a bit, my longest being 2 years + another job while in school (I did this at 15-17). For the past year, I've been struggling to find a job. To get interviews. To get a smidgen of attention. And when I do I've been met with hostility at our local restaurants (tbf the lady there is a known witch) and people telling me I'm great and I'm openly avaliable which they need. I'm always told I'll get a call back and I never do and if I call just to check, i can't usually get an answer. Yet the same people are complaining they can't find anyone that wants to work. I finally found a job working in a metal part making factory and I work 6a-6p 2 off 2 on and every other weekend. I get 8hrs OT on every pay. But they don't give an actual lunch. I get a 10 min break 3hrs in, a 20 min break 6hrs in and another 10 9hrs in. I'm happy to work. I'm glad I have something to where for the first time in my life, my pay will be over 1k a pay. But these breaks are gonna be ass after standing infront of open flames sweating all day.
Just wanted to complain that I couldn't find any jobs after applying to 50+ in my town and I now have to drive 45 min one way just to make a liveable wage. I hope the job situation around here. America. Anywhere it's ass gets fixed. I'm tired of explaining to people that 11 an hr isn't a liveable wage anymore (I get it's 7.25 an hr for min but come on. )
