Quit my toxic job today, boss offered to let me stay longer

I finally quit my toxic 80 hour a week job today. High stress, crazy hours and not nearly enough money for the work (salary in med device) I just couldn’t do it physically or emotionally any longer. I called my boss to give him the obligatory two weeks and he asked for 24 hours to see if he could make something work. I said sure, thinking he would try to offer me a different role in the company (there is substantial overlap between my role and similar ones, but those are not on call and have much less responsibility but also oddly the same pay). He called back and had “cleared it with hr” to let me work 4 weeks instead of the two if I wanted to. He thought he was doing me a favor because I don’t have another job lined up. I was too dumbfounded to laugh, if I had wanted to work for four more weeks why not give two weeks notice in two weeks?!

TLDR: quit my job, thought my boss was going to counter offer, he offered to keep me in the job longer.
