I have been unemployed for 4 months after turning down a job in Alaska and deciding to quit being a teacher after 3 years of dealing with that bureaucratic sector. I finally secured a leadership role at a non profit and even though the pay is just okay (but better than a teaching salary), I was surprised to see in my offer letter that the company covers our entire healthcare package on their dime, and the vacation time is near equivalent to a teachers vacation.
I hate that I work in a system in which free healthcare isn’t a standard, but I’m glad that my pathway is starting to look okay, at least for now.
