The title says it all. I am not going to say who this individual is, because he/she is moderately well known. But I went to this experience being a centrist, Nelson Rockefeller Republican type person, but after my experience, I became a full blown Bernie Sanders supporter. At the most, once they hit one billion, they should be capped at that and get a certificate that says “Congratulations, You won the game of Capitalism”.
I didn't have any hostility towards Billionaire's prior to this experience, but now many facts that Conservatives and Free-Marketers use about Billionaires, I found out are complete garbage.
1- First off, the main trait of these individuals is absolute Superiority Egoism. They view the entire world and anyone outside their clique as beneath them and not worth their time. Many of these recent multi-billionaires try to put public elements of humility, such as their clothing (Think Bill Gates or Elon Musk style clothing) or the cars they drive, or some kind of quirky behavior (the Ikea guy eating at a cafeteria quite often) but this is entirely a façade. They have no sympathy, no virtue towards the average human being. When you get that much money, you cannot avoid this thinking that you some how you are better and more worthy than everyone else. This individual had almost a messianic view towards him/her. Deus Ex Machina. This individuals religious beliefs will sound even more idiotic and stupid if I could actually say what it was. But I'm not going to go into more detail. That's why they are so thin skinned against criticism. They do not view you as having objective arguments. They view you as a worthless serf who has no right to talk back at them. They are the new emperors of the capitalist world.
This individual has sold themselves as a self-made person. That is complete BS, I know the Family background of this individual and there is no way in fucking hell that they would have been even 10 Percent as successful if it was not for their family's wealth. They were Multi-Millionaire Elites before this individual became successful, now they are Multi-Billionaires.
This family, they recently paid for a person in a Third-World Country to write a Chronicle history of a specific part of their family. Such a job could easily get thousands of dollars in the States, but they are literally paying this person poverty level wages in this third-world country. I spoke to this individual recently and he was crying that they couldn't afford gas, food, anything and I sent money to help. This while they were working for one of the richest people in the world where they have butlers, security, and thousands of dollars per meals. This one made me sick to my stomach.
Furthermore, they do not view themselves as subject to the rules and regulations of this world. They think that the rules only apply to everyone, except themselves. When you have all the money in the world to buy the best Lawyers, they don't view the courts and laws as tools of justice and order, they view lawsuits and criminal penalties as just a blip on their radar. Its just a regular part of their daily life to buy off judges, prosecutors, lawyers, defense attorneys etc.
2 – Total Facade. Going back to that Bill Gates type public persona and look, Outside of this, they blow money like there is no tomorrow. You think the outside of their houses look impressive? See what's inside. Many of these Billionaires are justifiably afraid for security reasons so they build an entire universe for themselves in their compounds with every conceivable luxury and service available to them. All this in cities with completely unaffordable housing. Want to go out to eat? Reserve the entire restaurant for yourself while people are starving across the street. My point being is that their public fronts are a complete fraud to present this image of being a “average guy”. In reality, when you see their spending habits, you realize there is no need for anybody to hold this much wealth.
3 – Isolation. If you are spending 24 hours a day in some compound with a bunch of staff who do whatever you want to keep their job, there is no fucking way in hell you are dealing with reality anymore. You are just surrounded by a bunch of yes men who do nothing but tell you what you want to hear and you become more and more disconnected from reality. The whole Vladimir Putin thing about not really knowing how his army is fucking up in Ukraine, its exactly the same. My Experience with this individual taught me how completely disconnected from reality they were.
4 – Philanthropy means nothing to them. This one is a combination of 1, 2, 3. and this is a frequent one that Neo-Liberals use. That private charity solves so much of this worlds problems. This is so far from the truth I can break it down entirely. The fundamental problem is that they do not view people as human beings, they view them as objects to showcase their superiority. They think that with all the wealth they have gotten, they are proving their self worth (In some ways, they are often narcissist's with inferiority complexes. The wealth does nothing to solve their fundamental problems) to themselves. Since they are often isolated, they do not have a good knowledge of what the fundamental problems are so they have no clue how to invest or donate to causes that actually improve quality of life. This is why Billionaires in America in particular donate to things like “Poor Children in Africa”, or “IPads for inner city kids” (Note: I am not saying these individuals don't need genuine help), but don't invest or avoid paying taxes in things like Public Transportation, Universal Health Care, Equitable City Planning, Mental Health Services, Reliable Utilities, Nuclear Power, Food Deserts, and High-Quality Public Education. We have a lot of serious problems in this country and these idiots blow money on causes that can show themselves with a bunch of African and Indian Kids in Orphanages, often not coming up with real solutions for those people in the first place, but secondly to show themselves as superior than the rest of the world when their own country is fucked up.
There is other features of charity that I suspect play a role for them to, such as Tax Write-offs, money laundering, and political financing. But these are just suspicions I have, I have no specific information besides my own suspicions.
In Conclusion, Anybody who is defensive of these new Multi-Billionaires have never spent 5 minutes with them. They see them on TedX Forums and Davos and somehow think they are geniuses who deserve our praise and adulation, they are a cross between absolute worthlessness and Modern-Day Emperors.
The world deserves better than this and I hope one day Americans can realize that as well.
