Was hired for a former MLB Player's blockchain company. He made me work for his partner's NFT company. They made me do work outside of the scope of my work. At first, I didn't mind because the pay was ok for remote work. Initially, I had no problems with them but payments were late multiple times. I was told I would get paid and then on the day of payment nothing would happen or some lame excuse would come up.
I worked long hours everyday and my salary was $65K. I wasn't “asked” to work long hours and on weekends but it was implied because it was a startup that I should work hard.
After I suddenly quit due to stress of not being paid, in a phone call I was told by the former MLB player that I could rejoin the team after a “heart to heart phone call”.
Not too long after I couldn't log into Microsoft Teams… and the next week I was pretty much locked out and totally ignored.
The former MLB player's partner made me do unethical things like join her in a call with a competitor. The sole purpose was to gather information about the technologies used by this competitor. I was uneasy about that and voiced concerns but eventually caved in. The MLB player's partner pretended to own an art gallery and pretty much pretended to be a potential “client” to this competitor.
These people have money and own other businesses. I just want to get paid for all of the work I did and be on my way. I built multiple WordPress websites with stock images from my account that they continue to use.
There's a few issues:
- They hide their blockchain company's address ownership by having the former MLB Player's partner's real estate LLC as the owner. Lawyer had difficulty serving them my demand letter for payment.
- A lot of “evidence” is on Microsoft Teams which I'm sure they illegally scrubbed. Although I have a local copy of chats on my ipad. Microsoft Teams can track how much time I was on the platform.
- It's like my former employer would put traps because he told me verbally he always recorded convos… and had the senior developer randomly drill me about sharing permissions when I wasn't doing anything nefarious with the content. In fact I shared content with other authorized members of the company like the #2 and MLB player's partner.
- They are misrepresenting certain information on Linkedin which I have already reported.
Not being paid after wasting 3+ months of my life helping these people is the worst. Especially when I worked on weekends and holidays and put in 12-16+ hours days. They can pay their senior developer on time but I was just too nice to these MFs so they though they could take advantage of me.
I only realized how bad they were when the week after my call I couldn't log into Microsoft Teams for good and they just completely ignored me.
I want to expose them and their unethical behavior completely. There is much more I can talk about but I'll leave it at this for now.
