Normalize quitting your job because you don’t like it

I had been contemplating a job change a while back and looked at advice columns, fairly sane ones too, but was surprised by the intense letters about quitting. The people writing in said things l quit my job because my boss was screaming at me daily, I could barely function, I cried every morning, etc., that was how I finally knew I had to quit. Practically, changing jobs is hard, so I get not wanting to do it. But this idea that you have to be mentally tortured daily before you quit just feels like a weird callback to indentured servitude.
