I'm an academic at a UK university. Our union is announcing a marking and assessment boycott, I'm taking part in this as part of our ongoing dispute about pay, casualisation and pay equality. My marking over the next few months forms approximately 5% of my actual duties. My university will not be paying me at all while I take part in industrial action of any sort.
Although likely illegal, legal recourse will take time and isn't a certainty.
If I stop working, I'll lose my job.
Shit working conditions. Shit learning conditions. Everyone loses except the university's pockets.
FML.
