My employer just had us sign and acknowledge a sick policy update that states coming in to work sick will be grounds for disciplinary action up to termination.
The last time I tried to call off sick, they wanted me to go to the doctor and spend $100+ for a note to prove that I have a cold. I don't have insurance nor can I afford a random $100 out of the blue, so I am forced to work sick regularly because I can't afford to prove that I am in fact sick.
Show up to work sick: fired.
Call out without a doctor's note: fired.
