I worked in a corporate banking job for the past two years, with the option of remote work. The job description supported this and my boss worked remotely from another state. However, I was injured last year and used some of my FMLA. In October, I worked from home the entire month. In January, I requested an ADA accommodation to work from home due to my medical issue and provided all necessary clinical notes. However, my employer did not respond and instead placed me on unpaid leave without providing a reason. I have not received a paycheck since January.
When my unpaid leave apparently ended in April, my employer demanded that I return to the office within two business days. I explained that I couldn't due to my medical issue and offered to work from home as I had done in the past. At this point, I also requested to be on paid layoff or medical leave. However, my employer claimed that I had voluntarily quit, which was not true. I was shocked I sent this email https://imgur.com/HlSJ9rf and received this answer.. https://imgur.com/Qm3t1Ji
I am worried about my financial situation and am considering applying for unemployment. I am unsure if I am eligible due to my employer's false claim that I quit. I plan to explain the situation to the unemployment office and hope for the best.
Any advice would be appreciated!
