so I've given it a bit of thought and am coming up blank on this. If a company incurs a cost then they can write it off as a business cost. Why can't I do that. I saw people on this sub mentioning how Mac they pay in transport to the office, parking, insurance, all that stuff which is not cheap at all. Some work places have dress codes (I call that a lax uniform). So I gotta pay to get t here, spend time unpaid to get there, dress to a certain standard which costs money, spend more money to put my car somewhere safe so I can continue paying for parking and fuel and insurance to go to this office job that could be done in a single email per day… why are these not VAT exempt items. If I need to pay for all these things then why am I taxed on them. why can't I write it off as a cost of employment expense, just as my company can write off office supplies they NEED to operate a depertment, or the computers they provide for us to do the work they NEED us to do for them to make money. it just seems like the biggest lie ever sold to us. If we work and are required to turn up clean and on time surely we should be comped for that. if it takes me 1 hour to get to of bed, shit shower shave, grab a bite and then another hour to commute… surely my work day stated 2 hours before I arrive… im doing 2 hours per day in the morning alone for free. Ive heard of companies paying an additional hour per day to account for commute time or companies giving a fuel allowance (maybe its for travels on company time I don't know) its all suspicious to me anyways and it makes sense that I should be able to write my toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, clothes, fuel, insurance, repairs all up and get either a tax refund or the company reimburses for these expenses if they have a code of conduct that would outline the employees responsibilities to the work place.
