If that sounds insane, it's because it is. I got kicked out of the lunch room at work for eating my lunch “too close” to an ugly charcuterie board that the manager made.
She was like “yeah, we're not doing that, you have to eat somewhere else, I mean do you really think it's a good idea to eat this close to food?”
I had to eat in my hot car. So I decided to no longer take my lunches inside the building (I'm supposed to as I'm a security guard) if they complain I will simply inform them that I've been asked not to eat in the lunchroom because I might be eating too close to food.
