So, the example that immediately comes to mind was this one job where they had rigged the time card we used to not allow you to clock in until 5 minutes after the page is opened.
When you login, it rejects your credentials, you refresh, retype, refresh, repeatedly angrily mashing the enter key, and keep having to redo the captcha, and every time it takes five minutes. This amounts to 25 minutes every week, which then gets rounded up to an hour every two week pay interval.
They think they are saving money, but they’re paying their employees less, and actually wasting their time for an hour every pay period. You didn’t get an extra hour out of your employee, you got less work.
Then, when there was something that needed my attention, everyone else has to wait that same stupid five minutes it takes for me to clock in. If that was a presentation, we had as many as thirty employees being paid and not working for the additional five minutes that they’re waiting on me.
They went out of their way to make a minute saving to then piss off good employees who just end up leaving over it, and still actually COST themselves more.
Like, when an employer switches to cubicles instead of offices to save money and downsize the office space they lease, they do so to save money. Then turnover increases because people hate the downgrade. Then they spend more training new employees. The reputation is so horrible they have to offer sign on bonuses. They lose money left and right because of a decision they made to purposely make employees miserable.
I’m getting real tired of this shit.
