I got poached by a competitor for a hybrid, but mostly remote role. My primary questions across 4 interviews and a project was around clarifying the hybrid model and expectations. Everyone told me it was quarterly at a nearby coworking space for large all-company meetups (cool, that's fine) — they even bragged that they got rid of their official office entirely. I put my 2 weeks in, accept the offer, and on the first day on the job I'm told, “it's actually twice a week, at an entirely new location 45 miles away.”
So I make the drive, confront the CEO at the coffee machine, and express my concern. He says, “well, the role was listed as hybrid.”
Very reputable company in my industry. Stunned this what they pull on poached talent.
