So my mom and I were at the mall today and we stopped in at a shoe store. The girls there complimented my hair (I have it dyed bright blue and purple).
“We’re not allowed to do that here.” She told me.
“You’re not allowed to dye your hair?”
“Only natural colours. So I’m always jealous when I see anyone with bright colours.”
As my mom and I left I told her I didn’t think the girls were being paid enough for the company to be able to tell them what they could and couldn’t do with their hair. My mom agreed. She said as long as it’s clean and neat it shouldn’t matter.
Honestly, I feel like workplaces shouldn’t be allowed to tell people what they can and can’t do to their bodies. Clothing sure? You want them to look presentable, but hair? That crossed a line.
