Feel guilty about missing work because sick

I love my job most of the time, but they don’t pay sick pay. I have gone in even when I have felt like death. So everyone knows when I don’t go in, it must be serious. I have had severe jaw/tooth pain over the last week, painkillers weren’t touching it. Some days I thought about not going in or asking to leave early. Used my lunch the other day for an emergency dentist. Turned out I had an infected new filling and one of my wisdom teeth (waiting on removal appointment) had emerged inflamed. Both on same row of teeth, only a few apart. The dentist gave me antibiotics and Said I was very unlucky to get both at once. I returned to work and tried my best, but that day was the worst yet.

Constant, debilitating pain. I couldn’t concentrate. Asked to leave 90 minutes early (I meant unpaid) and after some deliberation (???) my boss said yes as everything should be done by then.

Other people he is buddy with just seem to leave when they want if they don’t feel well. Not even if they have a genuine medical problem.

Not sure if he knew I meant as sick or just I wanted to go early. We are quite friendly and he knew about my dentist trip.

So I text him that I would not be in today, two paragraphs with full explanation of what the dentist had said, in case his boss needed to know why I was sick and that my face was swollen.

He always reads texts super quickly, so it was read. But he didn’t reply. Normally, he replies.

I sent one a few hours ago just saying I’ll be coming in tomorrow and I got “ok”.

A.) I feel guilty for being off sick.
B.) might be paranoia but I keep thinking he’s annoyed. Though I know with me off they would be very busy so maybe that explains no reply.
C.) I feel much better, not perfect but better, my face is still a little swollen and I feel slight pain now, but painkillers and antibiotics plus rinsing with mouthwash are helping.
