Question about unemployment benefits (US)

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I see people comment all the time “make them fire you and collect unemployment” so I figured someone here may know something. If you were to put in your two weeks on, say, June 1 stating that June 14 will be your last day, and your company responds saying something along the lines of “don’t bother your last day will be today”, would that qualify you for unemployment benefits? Like, is that them firing you? My friend group is split on whether it would count for unemployment or not. If there’s a better place to ask, I’ll crosspost/delete and repost! Thanks friends!
