My supervisor recently left, we worked together so well, but CEO with horrible management be skills drove them away. I am actively looking for other opportunities too, but did express interest in supervisor role. Wanted to give it a try, especially BC salary is 2X current role. CEO was all positive, yes, let's discuss when you get back. I had to have surgery and had medical PTO planned. Pretty major and was out for the allotted 4 weeks. I came back on time, jumped right back in, but no mention of interview for team lead position. 1week later, CEO announced they offered job to a friend and would be starting at the end of June. This was mentioning offhand at a full team meeting. Not a word to me about it before. I can “possibly” even understand not being able to wait for my leave, but since he's not starting for 3 more weeks.. And they wonder why they have horrible turnover.
