My coworkers work off the clock

So I work in a retail store making $9 an hour, I think the most the assistant managers make is $10 or around that. I’ve only worked here a few weeks and yet I’ve noticed a few of them will clock out to not go overtime, yet they’ll continue working??? I’ve asked one of them why and she’s like “well we need to get stock out, I just can’t leave the store a mess”… I don’t get how they care this much for this store. I don’t think (or at least know) if my boss puts them up to this but it’s so upsetting to see them slaving away and know they aren’t even getting paid for it. One of the ladies literally stayed for a 14 hour shift, yet she told me she’s only getting paid for about 8 of them. I don’t know if she thinks I’m gonna…

I don’t know if she thinks I’m gonna congratulate her on her hard work or what, but I think it’s just sad and idiotic to waste your entire day, not getting paid, for a company that would probably fire them over the tiniest things.
We already do not get paid enough to live, and you’re gonna do free labor for them? I can’t fathom it.
