It has gotten to the point the way debt works in the U.S is beyond broken; it is killing people and is stopping them from improving themselves. The worst offenders are student loan debt which currently roughly 60 to 100k on average and medical debt which has exploded and is completely out of control. It had gotten to the point, where you can't afford to get anything more than a common cold treated. Worse is the fact people are literally dying because they can't take time off to care for themselves. They have to work until they drop. Even if you have a few million in the bank student and especially medical debt can and in many cases will destroy you. I've seen it happen and no I am not talking about NBA players for example. I am talking about folks who maybe have a million or at most 10 to use for their whole lifetime who should be good until those medical bills come in than you are screwed.
Having a living wage is a must but until there is a revolutionary debt reform to go along with it, it will not matter; and it needs to happen soon.
