I (23F) graduated college last year in visual art and design. I was lucky to get a graphic design job right out of school full-time with benefits and the like. Right in the beginning, my direct supervisor goes on maternity leave and I get almost no training at this place. Just start working and figure it out later. I work at a very niche company and I didn’t even know what we did until November (I started in July.) Fast forward to like February, I’m told I’m doing poorly and need to get it together. No one has said any of this to me not a single art director or superior as the mistakes were happening. I’m like ok so I work harder. Fast forward a month, my dad passes away and my life kinda turned upside down. I’m told to take as much time as I need… a month later I’m told if I don’t get it together again I’m going on PIP. LOL. So now 10 days after that meeting, I’m on PIP and met with HR today. I was offered a “mutual departure” thing with severance, take a leave of absence, or continue PIP with my never-pleased manager and pray I keep my job to feed my dog (and myself.) I’m also working with a recruiter to find another job but the market is so scary rn… Any advice is welcome 🙂
