So I work in a plant/warehouse. I have a few diseases that are covered under ada and sometimes have to take intermittent fmla leave for. This is mainly a vent but any advice is much appreciated
In a single meeting today at work I was written up for insubordination for telling a manager not to yell at me. The plant is loud and he was 30ft-ish away and yelled loud enough the others could hear it. He was just trying to get my attention and I said “that's fine my bad it sounded like you were yelling”. The write up was for: insubordination getting a attitude with a manager and telling the manager what to do….
In this same meeting I was told it's unfair that I have accommodations that allow me to take needed breaks when my medical issues flair up. I told him that there are accommodations for the issues and that is between me, my Dr, and HR. He told me if it's a issue then I need to take fmla (which I do intermittently) he said no permanently because if I have that many issues I shouldn't be working there…
This is not the first time they have done this. The old hr we had intentionally got rid of all my accommodations when I submitted them and never put them on file. This time I got them on file and have records for myself as well ad voice recordings that the meetings were had.
I'm stressed and at a loss on what to do how to handle it other than legal counseling. I'm getting to a breaking point and I feel there's nothing to do. This is the best paying job without having to relocate and doing more intense labor.
