Today I had a “heart to heart” conversation with my manager about how long it took them to get into management and if the pay is adequate. For context, this is retail. When asked about the pay they mentioned how they noticed the pay for assistant managers in retail has gone down since 2020.
They said “since COVID in 2020” and “the gen-z bullshit” people are not working as hard so jobs pay less. Well, you heard it here folks. I guess we are a bunch of lazy jack asses and we just need to “work harder” to get more pay. /s
Yeah no. I think jobs pay less because during COVID companies laid off staff or shut down for some time and saw the money that didn't need to be used for payroll so they pocketed it. While saying they're hiring to qualify for those PPP loans to pocket that too. Companies have got greedier and are capitalist pigs! But older folks are so content to be blissfully ignorant that they won't believe that. They'll just blame gen-z or people are not working hard enough.
