So, it's become a joke inside and outside the show that apart from Marge having the occasional job, The Simpson family does really well on just Homer's income. They have a 4/5 bed house, with 3 living rooms, a seperate dining room, large kitchen, etc, two cars, etc. He is shown repeatedly to be a low earner. However, when The Simpsons first aired, this was still normal. A family could comfortably get by, in what we might now consider to be luxurious circumstances, on a single relatively small income. Sure the show exaggerates this concept but it's there.
Anyone else feel like we're missing out nowadays? And how do we get back to this?
