“We are short staffed so you can’t quit!” -Update- I quit and reported wage theft

I went in to work yesterday. I asked for a break and my boss said the only way I would get a break is if I stayed over an extra 30 minutes. She stressed that if I did this, there would be no coverage for the office and my workload would pile on. I took a photo of the timeclock with my cellphone which was the only way to prove my time was being cut daily.

The timeclock clearly states I clocked in last Monday at 5:25am and clocked out at 14:30pm. The total hours worked are totaled up as 8.

The clock deducted an hour when I never moved from my desk.

I then went home and submitted a wage complaint with the DOL as many of you suggested. I hope something happens with this but I can't physically prove I never moved. I can however prove I never swiped my badge.

I wrote a resignation letter through email and clearly included all the days in both the complaint and the letter that I was not paid for working through my entire lunch. I quit in the letter effective immediately.

My boss wrote back. I don't even care to read it.

Thanks all for giving me the resources and I hope something comes from this although I am cautiously optomistic.
