First time posting here but I feel like this gives some perspective on work culture as a nessecity

I’m 17 and recently quit my job at Safeway for my own mental health. I put my 2 weeks in and everyone there from management to my co workers were all supportive of my decision. When I told my parents about this they were fuming because they perceived me as being lazy and that work is a nessecity in everyday life. They also said that me quitting is a weak move and that I’m not preparing myself for the “real world”. This has just turned into a rant but I just feel angry and disappointed that my parents think work is what defines a person and without it their nothing. :/
