So I'm (30M) truck driver, been with this company since April of 2022. Had 4 months experience with them when I hired on. Ended up on a dedicated account that is home daily. As time has gone on, my company has added more and more accounts on top of our main account to make up for deadhead miles, basically to not lose money on unpaid driving back to the shipper. My company has lost a few drivers and hasn't been able to keep any new hires for more than a few months. Myself and a few drivers have told management for months that our customers are not happy with us because 1. We don't have enough trailers to fill for loads and 2. We are constantly late because we are behind a day or two all the time due to short staffing and overloading us. Fast forward to yesterday, and another driver tells me that WE ARE LOSING ALL OF THE ACCOUNTS! I call to confirm with my boss, and he says “yes we were going to call you…we lose our secondary accounts in a week and our main account in 2 weeks.” “We are going to offer you a regional job that's out from home for a week at a time.” Oh and it pays less.
So fucking pissed. I have a 1 year old and 3 year old at home, and my wife is going to be forced to quit her job because the only local gigs near me that pay enough are night shift. I wish management would listen to their employees when we literally spelled it out that this was eventually going to happen. We have 14 drivers on this account that are going to be displaced due to this neglectful mismanagement. Rant over
