CEO hosting a Professional Development course

Our CEO is hosting a 4 hour Professional Development course across an entire Monday afternoon. No ability to join remotely and a huge portion of staff can't join because we work in different regions or remotely entirely. No agenda, no goals, no context as to what this meeting will consist of. I can't join (remote worker) and I am bummed and feel overlooked. This is all coming on the heels of an All Hands meeting where he directed all employees to “be extraordinary” and work more and longer hours. He claimed he knows there is work to be done and even on our extra time off (we're on a 9 x 80 schedule) we should be prioritizing that. Lots of talk of how much revenue we will be generating which an extremely small staff. He doesn't mention raises, bonuses, profit sharing, KPIs, just all stick no carrot. Feeling like this…

Feeling like this sort of narrative and actions speaks volumes about the ego and perceptions of our CEO. I've reached my 1 year mark with this company and feeling even though we have huge potential to be successful as a company, I may not have a future here. Such a strange contradiction.

Appreciate any insight to observations of CEOs and similar behavior.
