So I work as mental health professional in the UK and my employer sends through clients to me. I am an employee, not a contractor. I don't have much to do with my employer except for invoicing and starting new clients.
I got an email out of the blue asking for a phone meeting and when they called today I said 'before we start how will I be able to fill out the time sheet for this?' and she stuttered a bit and explained it's just a quick call and it's unpaid. I explained I've blocked off time that I could be seeing clients to take this call and if it's unpaid I can't continue with the conversation.
Literally heart racing to after standing up for myself but I bet everyone else is doing it unpaid and not questioning anything.
I was on the phone for 1 minute. Hopefully this doesn't affect the number of clients they assign to me.
