Pretty much title. There's a blue-collar industrial company a friend of mine works for where you get attendance points based on when you notify them you aren't able to be there.
So, no call no shows = 1 point; call out less than 30 min in advance =0.5 points. He insists leaving early, so long as you tell your sup, doesn't cause accrual of points. And this will eventually cause write ups and ding ya on your review.
This bullshit about PTO is not that. According to my friend, if you have less than 30 hours of PTO, you can't score higher than a 3/5 on the performance review. You still get a raise–but not as much as a 4/5, 5/5–which feels like a penalty.
Is this legal? And either way, isn't it bullshit?
