As many of us do, I hate working. Not the principle of work in of itself—I’m all for meaningful/creative work that is more natural to our personal strengths, desires, and lifestyles, but corporate America—the conventional 9-5s, and the way in which our society has constructed a system by which many of us must sit at our desks for 8+ hours a day staring at a computer screen with no ability to go outside, take ample breaks, and no regard for physical, mental, or emotional needs outside of what you’ve been hired to do. No regard for maternal and familial needs. No regard for the tried and true studies which show increased productivity for shorter work-weeks/work-days. I know this is dramatic, and I should be grateful for having a job, but it feels like death.
I am starting a new job tomorrow and am already depressed. Guess I’m just looking to be heard, that’s all.
