So I (F22) currently work at a vape store in my city. Im planning on leaving there as I got offered a job at my dream workplace (an animal hospital!) but I’ve worked at the vape store for about a month now and something about it is bothering me. I’ll get scheduled 10 hour shifts (which isn’t really a big deal, it’s fine) but my boss and coworkers have all told me that you don’t get actual set breaks. It’s more like.. sit down in the break room when you can and when there’s no customers in the store. It’s quite a busy store and I rarely have time to sit, and when I do, it’s for maybe 2 minutes and I can barely get through a whole meal. I usually just end up having one granola bar during the day and that’s it. Sometimes you’re also booked alone, so you can’t sit down really ever. Is this legal? I keep getting mixed answers from people around me but it really doesn’t seem like it. Typically you’d get a lunch break, and two 15 minute breaks or something. Idk.
