This is my first post here so I hope its well received.
A few months ago I had got out of high school and started to look for a full time job. It took me a while to find one in my area as I had to have it in a certain radius from where I live (I have a tiny electric scooter that can only go 28 miles, I am working on getting my license but didn’t have it at the time). I found what seemed like the perfect job about a month ago at a grocery story. It was a good distance away from where I lived and I got hired for it almost immediately.
Turns out its not so perfect after all. I was looking for a full time position as I need to pay rent but they said that they only do part time for starting people and I can work my way up to full time. I was completely fine with that as I was willing to do the work.
I don’t think they seemed to get that.
I had one full week where I worked 35 hours on a $13.5 hourly wage. It was a great paycheck to get. But then the weeks followed I was only scheduled 4 hours of work. I thought maybe it was because of some sort of website issues but my manager confirmed it was my schedule. I was hoping that this was just a one off thing but then it happened the next week. I was think maybe it was because of all the other new hires that need training before school starts. But I recently saw my schedule the week that school and I only have 10 hours in total.
I’m completely at a loss here and don’t know what to do. I thought about applying to other jobs farther away now that I’m getting my license but I’m very confused as to what to do. I’ve only ever worked at a sessional place before this so I don’t have much experience with a part time job. If I could get any advice I would appreciate it
