So I'm working for a popular auto parts store. I'm at the front counter constantly helping customers. I have an assistant manager who is barely there. Most of the time he's either out in his truck or in the bathroom. He will show up 2 hours late and leave an hour early too. I've talked to the manager and the district manager and nothing has been done about his behavior.
Meanwhile there are regular employees who will be punished for taking time off to go and handle things at home. It's an incredibly frustrating situation and I feel as though I have no power over it.
Everybody is sick of the guy and he's even told me, “I don't need to be working here, I make more money wrenching on race cars and mobile mechanic work”. Even with my very first month with the company I've made more profits from sales than he has. Normally I would feel bad about getting somebody fired, no matter who it is, but I know for a fact that he can easily live off the profits of his side business.
He spends so much time away from the front desk it feels like it's practically time theft. He also never helps to clean or put freight and parts away. Even when he is at the front counter sometimes his friends will come in specifically to talk to him for about an hour.
