If you want to get mad about tipping culture, use that anger to help us servers get better pay. Advocate for us. It isn't our fault that our literal lives DEPEND on tips and it isn't yours either. It's our awful employers that think justifying 3 dollars an hour with tips is acceptable.
I hate being a server but it's the only available job in my area. Half of your tips don't even go to me. They go to the government through taxes.
I want a livable wage and so does every server. I'm not an IT specialist, or a nurse, I cook and clean and serve. I'm aware it isn't as hard as other jobs. But I deserve a livable wage and so does every other server.
We all need to collectively strike against waitress wages and abolish them. No more tips. Just a livable wage.
I don't want to feel hopeless for the rest of my life. The American dream is dead. Even if I went to college and got a degree I would still be struggling.
