Why recruiters feel like they are in charge?

I’m a software engineer working in FAANG, I constantly get emails approaching me to apply to some positions in other companies. Sometimes these offers are tempting and seem interesting but when I talk to the recruiters they talk to me incredibly entitled and I even feel myself like I have to beg for the position and it doesn’t feel good. The work of these people is to hire the right candidate with the correct amount of skills, their success depend on finding someone good, is not about feeling empowered to talk down other people like if they have the power to change your life and you need to earn it. Sometimes these offers are tempting and seem interesting but when I talk to the recruiters they talk to me incredibly entitled and I even feel myself like I have to beg for the position and it doesn’t feel good.

The work of these people is to hire the right candidate with the correct amount of skills, their success depend on finding someone good, is not about feeling empowered to talk down other people like if they have the power to change your life and you need to earn it.

There is some truth in it but I personally think these people have a bit of power in their hands and it goes to their heads too fast.

More than once, after the first interview when they ask me for my availability for the next round I tell them I didn’t like how they treated me and I won’t be moving forward with this company.
