The grass seems always greener on the other side. Here in Europe (I come from a slightly shittier country) you can have the following:
- Mandated 22 working days of paid leave
- Mandated basic insurance covered by the employer (there is still the premium)
- Kindergarten and schools for your kids are paid for
- Welfare 'fraud' is as easy as opening a lemonade stand
On the other hands, you will also have to deal with the following:
- Insane income taxes and sales taxes
- Long unemployment periods due to insane onboarding fees and taxes for the employer, they can't try you out to see if you fit like in at will states
- Basically non-existent business loans and expensive property
It does seem better for the average joe BUT highly educated people suck unemployment for upto a year if not more due to lack of opportunities.
