I work as a permanent consultant for a massive corp. I started 10 months ago, and have done very well at my job. I had a really good boss that put me on big projects that he handled the higher level stuff for.
Well about a month ago he tells me he is taking a new position and that there will be no manager for now so I will direct report to the senior manager. I had to take a higher level role on this project that is very big for the company and is being reported to board of directors. It’s crazy that me a(25M) has to lead these projects and it’s been quite stressful.
Today I go to check emails before I go to the gym and it says my account is locked. I call help desk to see what’s going on they say there is no profile of me in the system. I call my sr. Manager cell and he has no clue what’s going on and calls hr manager. Turns out my contract ended in January and when my boss transitioned they saw no renewal a erased me. My sr. Manager is working to fix it.
I am super confused, the contract with the consulting company says my contract with this corp is until Oct. 2024. I know that I’m not fired or anything but it is so wild that a company can just erase me. Couldn’t get into plant or anything. Now I am really happy with my job. Never thought I would be where I am at this age, but “consulting” is bs. I play a key role in huge projects for corp. should I try to leverage to convert full corp employee? Feel like I got some leverage considering managers gone and it’s only me and one other full corp employee running a ton of projects.
