For context, I have been with this employer a little over a year. I (along with everyone else on my team) have been hit up to donate money for flowers every time someone has a death in the family. Including In-Laws, daughter-in-laws, etc… I have donated every time, barely knowing these people but feeling for their situations.
Here I am, my FIL passed from PLS (a form of Lou Gherig's disease), the services were today. No flowers from my work. I received a sympathy card from my boss in the mail a few days ago signed “From your (ABC) Family” .
Part of me wants to send off a nicely worded “thanks for nothing” email when I return next week. I do not understand how me & my family mean nothing, yet I have given money every time for others in their time of grieving, to get a lousy card in return.
It really is the thought, or lack thereof, that counts, isn't it?
